Why do I need ProXimity Talk?

ProXimity Talk simply helps you to save unnecessary key presses:

  • Just look on the phone to see who is calling, and hold it to your ear to answer.
  • You often have to look up your calendar during a call, but do not want to turn on and off the speaker all the time - then ProXimity Talk is the right tool for you.

How does ProXimity Talk work?

ProXimity Talk monitors the proximity sensor of your phone. Depending on your settings it uses the information of this sensor to decide if it should answer the call automatically, transfer the call to the speaker, or end the call after turning the phone face-down.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Using in combination with other similar tools

Using ProXimity Talk in combination with other tools with similar functionality is not recommended, since the overall behavior is not predictable.

Disable similar functionalities of phone

Some phones have inbuilt functionalities to turn on the speaker when turning the phone face-down, or to decrease ringer volume when moved. If you use the "End Call", "Decrease Ringer Volume" or "Silence Ringer" functions of ProXimity Talk, you should disable these functions in your phone (e.g. under Settings/Sound: Flip for speaker, Quiet ring on pickup, Pocket mode).

Headset

ProXimity Talk does not take any action if a headset is attached - this would not make much sense.

Screen Lock

The screen lock can be removed by swiping (left or right), or by holding the phone to the ear. This also works if the screen is turned off completely during a lock.

The screen lock may cause unwanted behavior in conjunction with other lock mechanisms of the phone, therefore it should be used only if really necessary.

Using for the first time

Answering an incoming call may take more than 5 seconds for the first time. ProXimity Talk has to test, which answering method works on your phone. For subsequent calls there is no such delay.

Uninstalling

If the option "Allow Stand-By" is turned on, the application cannot be uninstalled. In order to uninstall the application, you can either disable "Allow Stand-By", or revoke the device administration right from the application via the phone's settings (under Settings / Security / Device Administration).
